In 1951, James Brown, Howard Dresser, and Robert Kinsey formed the partnership of Brown, Dresser & Kinsey.
In 1968, the firm hired University of Iowa Law School graduate, David Funkhouser, and the firm name changed to Brown, Kinsey & Funkhouser, P.L.C. Robert Kinsey’s son, Robert Kinsey III (“Chip”), graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in the early 1970s, and was the next attorney brought to the firm.
Then, in 1982, James Brown’s son, Scott Brown, graduated from Drake Law School and opted to come to Mason City to practice with the firm.
These gentlemen established a standard for the legal practice, committed to continuing a rich tradition which began at the time of the firm’s inception in 1951.
